Myrlie's Garden, located on the corner of Missouri Street, is the historic location of a garden plot where Myrlie Evers hosted a local garden club while the Evers family lived in the neighborhood. In the 1960s, African Americans were not allowed to join garden clubs, so Myrlie Evers worked to form her own club to prusue their interests. On the garden lot, The Garden Club would plant produce, herbs, and flowers for all to enjoy.
Today, Myrlie's Garden offers a community garden for all to enjoy, as well as a sheltered pavilion, educational exhibits, picnic benches, and a paved walkway. Myrlie's Garden also offers parking for the home site, located 300ft down Margaret Alexander Road.
Myrle's Garden is open sunrise to sunset.
