Winter waterfalls are quite stunning, and Munising Falls is the only waterfall in the park easy to access and view in winter. Located at the junction of Washington Street and Sand Point Road in Munising (across from the hospital), the Munising Falls parking lot is plowed all winter. The 800-foot walk up to the waterfall may be ice covered and slippery - ice cleats are recommended. Snow may also be deep enough on the trail to require snowshoes.

Safety - Do not leave the trail to get a closer view of the waterfall. Crossing over any railing is prohibited.

Leashed pets are allowed on the trail.  A flush toilet at the beginning of the trail is open year-round.

The Munising Falls parking lot is also the access point for the North Country Scenic Trail. In winter, this is a great trail for snowshoeing up along a clifftop with some views of Lake Superior.
