Monument Description

This monument, donated by the Valley Forge Park Commission under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1908, marks the location of the encampment of General Muhlenberg's troops. General John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg of Pennsylvania commanded a brigade in General Greene's Division made up exclusively of regiments from Virginia with the exception of the "German Regiment" composed of Pennsylvania German rank and file. This regiment was distinct for its primary use of the German language.
