What if you could get a bird’s eye view of the Snake River, like the osprey that hunts from above? What would you see? While you wait to be picked up for your float trip, experience that perspective by exploring the bronze Snake River beneath your feet. Beloved access points like Jackson Lake Dam, Pacific Creek Landing, Deadman’s Bar, and Moose Landing are marked along the way. Review the route of your float trip before you embark on your journey.

This area, known as Moose, became a significant crossing point of the Snake River. Because of the braided and winding nature of the river, there are no safe places to ford twenty miles north or south of this location. An early homesteader, Bill Menor, set up his homestead and ferry just north of this location. That ferry would open up the western side of the valley, drawing people in and eventually leading to conversations about the creation of the park.

Today, this spot serves as the primary pick-up location for commercial float trips in the park. Always check with your tour operator for specific instructions. Recreational users of the river can also put in and take out from this location. Informational signs and educational exhibits provide further insight and context to the wild nature of the Snake River. Restrooms are available for public use.
