The Juniper Flats Zone features open valleys, mountainous terrain, and panoramic views. It offers higher, cooler elevations ranging from ~4,400 to nearly 5,600 feet. During the colder months, freezing temperatures are common.

The Juniper Flats Backcountry Trailhead is the starting point for the following hikes:

  • Big Trees (6 miles)

  • Stubbe Springs (12 miles)


Visitors can also access the California Riding and Hiking Trail at this trailhead.
