The Virginia Clinton Kelley Memorial Garden is adjacent to the Visitor Center and the Clinton Birthplace Home. In this area set aside for reflection, you will find roses planted by Kelley's friends from Hot Springs adjacent to a hybrid crape myrtle called "Hope" that was developed by the University of Arkansas Department of Horticulture.
Known around Hope as "Virginia Rose," Kelley was a fanatical gardener and loved to grow roses. According to President Clinton, his mother grew these flowers at all of her homes throughout her life and up until her death.
The Virginia Clinton Kelley Memorial Garden provides contemplative space for reflection and is not intended for overnight use. The grounds of the National Historic Site, including the Virginia Clinton Kelley Memorial Garden, are open for public visitation and use from 7:00 a.m. until sunset daily.
