With Hampton Hall at its centerpiece, the 48.02-acre mansion side of Hampton National Historic Site was intended as place of leisure, recreation, and entertaining—the summer home for the Ridgely family. Within and beyond the walls of Hampton Hall, however, it was indentured, enslaved, and later paid servants who labored the make that lifestyle possible.
The mansion side of Hampton National Historic Site features the mansion, called “Hampton Hall," the extensive formal gardens surrounding it, and a domestic service cluster featuring a variety of structures designed to support the daily life of the house.
