Originally this building housed a steam powered man engine. The building is a single-story brick structure with poor-rock foundation and hipped roof. This machine used a series of platforms that raised and lowered workers in and out of the mine, making for safer and faster entry than long ladders. Workers would step from one side of the moving platform to another as they paused. The building was later converted into a small warehouse and is now privately owned.
