Lunksoos Mountain at 1,762 ft / 537 m, is within the heart of Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument. From the peak you will see magnificent views of forests, rivers, and mountains all around, including Katahdin. Reach the top of Lunksoos Mountain by hiking 6.3 miles one-way along the International Appalachian Trail from Wassataquoik Gate trailhead. A stream crossing is necessary by Wassataquoik Ford to reach the summit.

Restrooms: A vault toilet is located in the parking area at the Wassataquoik Gate trailhead.

Parking: Parking is available at Wassataquoik Gate.

Trail Etiquette: Leashed pets are allowed on this trail. Carry out all trash and food waste (fruit peels, shells, etc.). Do not feed the wildlife.

Use caution when fording Wassataquoik Stream. Review stream crossing safety before your trip.
