Only a few doors down from and only a few years after Lincoln left his home on 8th and Jackson Street, Julius Rosenwald grew up in this house. Although not as well known as the 16th president of the United States, Rosenwald had an enormous impact on this nation as president of Sears, Roebuck & Company and as one of the most generous and signifacant philanthropists of his time and arguably the nation's history, particularly playing a large role in supporting African American education in the rural south after the Civil war. Learn about this amazing but often forgotten figure in American history on this wayside, located in front of his boyhood home.
