Access to the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam

Follow the entrance road at Lees Ferry all the way to the end to access this boat launch. Here you will find yourself at the end of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and the beginning of Grand Canyon National Park. Wear a life jacket on the river.

Upstream: 15 miles (24 km) of smooth water open to boaters between Lees Ferry and Glen Canyon Dam.

Downstream: Restricted waters. Do not boat below the cable downstream from the Lees Ferry launch ramp without a permit.

The launch ramp at Lees Ferry is divided into the gravel section downstream for loading and launching downriver trips, and the paved section upstream for all upstream use. All river users need to be able to access these ramps in a timely manner for their intended purpose, so it is important not to block the paved section. Ready your boats and kayaks before you launch. Personal Watercraft (PWC)(those small vessels with inboard engines that one usually sits upon that have brand names like Jetski and SeaDoo) are not permitted on the Colorado River between Glen Canyon Dam and the boundary with Grand Canyon National Park.

Clean. Drain. Dry. All boaters, paddlers, and fishermen must clean, drain, and dry equipment after contact with these waters to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.

River Recreation Fishing

• Arizona fishing license required. Youth under 10 years old may fish without a license.
• Use only artificial flies and lures with barbless hooks.
• Adhere to possession limits established by state law.
• Check for up to day information regarding the Brown Trout Incentivized Harvest program before heading out to the river.
