A long stretch of asphalt extends out to the horizon. White parking lines line the right edge.

Quick Facts

Parking - Auto

Shortly after acquiring the ranch from his aunt, Frank Martin, in 1951, Lyndon Johnson set out to improve access to the property by adding a 3,000-foot grass landing strip. By the time Johnson became president in 1963, a series of improvements resulted in a 6,300-foot asphalt airstrip and connected taxiway. Since 2008, the taxiway has served as an integral part of the driving loop through the LBJ Ranch and a parking area for the nearby Airplane Hangar visitor center.
