Knob Creek

The Lincoln family used Knob Creek as their water source, and Abraham Lincoln likely fished here as well as a boy. According to legend, young Abraham Lincoln fell in the swollen Knob Creek while playing on a foot log near his home. Lincoln's childhood playmate, Austin Gollaher, grabbed a long tree limb from the bank and held it out like a strong arm to the struggling Lincoln.
