Travelers on the Katahdin View Loop Road can pause here to enjoy unparalleled views of Katahdin, Millinocket Lake, and other prominent landmarks stretching out to the west. Access is via a short driveway at mile 6.4 leading uphill to a clearing and parking area. A vault toilet and several picnic tables make this a popular rest stop. After sunset, this location also serves as an excellent night-sky viewing area for stargazers. Camping is located nearby at the Sandbank Stream campsites.
