While John Adams was in Philadelphia and Europe during the American Revolutionary War, Abigail Adams ran the farm, raised and educated her children, housed refugees, and sent intelligence to her husband from this property. The John Quincy Adams Birthplace is one of the two oldest presidential birthplaces in existence today.
