Visitors to Heritage Village can step back in time and explore Texas history in a scenic, relaxing setting filled with historic buildings, shady walking paths, and a growing network of interpretive trails. Located in New Braunfels, Texas, on land crossed by the historic route of  El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail, the village preserves the unique story of early New Braunfels pioneers and their lasting impact on Texas culture.

The grounds also host special events year-round, including:

  • El Camino Real Day – a statewide celebration of history and nature with hands-on activities in October.

  • Folkfest – a family-favorite festival of music, food, crafts, and living history each April.

  • Second Saturday at Heritage Village – monthly programs featuring living historians in costumes, working blacksmiths and wood workers, music, lectures, and cultural activities.

Safety Considerations

Visitors can participate in the NPS Passport Program, explore interpretive trail signage on native plants and wildlife, and see one of the most impressive collections of Texas handmade furniture in the state.

Heritage Village is open to the public year-round, Tuesday through Saturday afternoons, and earlier on Second Saturdays when the gates are open at 10.

Admission to the Heritage Village complex is free, but museum tours are available for a modest fee. Whether you are a history enthusiast, nature lover, or family looking for a memorable day out, the village offers something for everyone.
