Harrison Creek is a small waterway that empties into the Appomattox River and is a landmark in the opening assaults on Petersburg and the Battle of Ft. Stedman. From June 16 -18, 1864, Confederate forces on the west bank of this creek dug in and held off U.S. attacks before falling back to defense works that would hold for the rest of the siege. On March 25, 1865, this stream was as far east Confederates reached when they attempted breakthrough at the Battle of Ft. Stedman.
