Herman Hanka settled this homestead with his family after he was injured in a copper mining accident in 1896. The homestead sits on 40 acres of land with 8 standing buildings. This indoor/outdoor museum allows visitors to learn about the life of immigrant families and their experience living in the Copper Country. Volunteers, when available, provide guided tours of this 1920s-era Finnish Farm. A self-guided brochure is also available. Call ahead for large groups.

The Keweenaw Heritage Sites are official partners of Keweenaw National Historical Park, but are privately owned. Each site interprets and preserves an important aspect of the area's copper mining history and provides a unique visitor experience. Please contact individual sites for more information.
