Has Your GPS Misled You?
If you're taking the Lance Rosier Unit driving tour, your GPS has NOT misled you!
If, on the other hand, you ARE trying to find the visitor center, your GPS may have misled you, though not by ill will. The unusual geography of Big Thicket National Preserve often causes map apps to direct travelers into remote parts of the preserve, which consists of 15 separate sections—called “units”—that are spread out over 7 southeast Texas counties. All of those units are considered an equal part of Big Thicket National Preserve—your map app just doesn't know which one you want to visit!
To get familiar with the layout of the preserve, take a look at the park map, either on the NPS App or the official park brochure, available online and at the visitor center (which, now you know, is not down this road).
