Goat Lick gets its name from a natural mineral seep, which attracts mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus).

There are two overlooks from the parking area, each about 500 feet (152 meters) long. One overlook offers views of the river and the other a direct view of the mineral seep. The paths are smooth and gently sloping. They are made of asphalt and a natural paving material (StaLok®).

Stay at least 25 yards (23 meters) away from mountain goats and at least 100 yards (91 meters) away from bears.
