Built of brick in 1976, the Fort Moultrie Visitor Center’s unique shape is like that of the fort itself. The 4 angular points on the visitor center are reminiscent of the salient points of Fort Moultrie.  The visitor center was built where the hospital of Fort Moultrie Military Reservation once stood.

Today the visitor center houses a museum with exhibits spanning the 170 years of history at Fort Moultrie. Also within the walls of the visitor center are a theater, which plays the park film every half hour, and a bookstore with souvenirs for every visitor. Access to the rooftop observation deck provides views of Fort Moultrie and Charleston Harbor.  Stop inside and say hi to the rangers and learn more about the fascinating history of Fort Moultrie.
