Fort Heiman is now preserved as a unit of Fort Donelson National Battlefield. It is located in Calloway County, Kentucky.
The site is still under early development; there is not a Visitor Center or Contact Station. Interpretive wayside exhibits, historic earthworks, and a small pavilion with exhibits are located here. NPS regulations are enforced.
Visitors to the area should park near the pavilion and be prepared to walk, from this location, to view earthworks and more interpretive exhibits. This is perhaps a half-mile hike to a higher point overlooking the Tennessee River.
