The rain garden at the Fort Clatsop Visitor center is an important part of helping the local ecosystem. Rain gardens purify water naturally, designed to hold rainwater for a short time and then slowly release it into the ground where plant roots, microbes, and more remove pollutants from the water before it reaches the Lewis and Clark River.

Spend some time looking around and you may see some of the creatures that call the rain garden home, anything from Banana Slugs and spiders to Pacific Tree Frogs and birds may be found here.

An audio description of the sign "Drop by Drop, Garden to Sea" is available at this location using your phones screen reader on this page.

This location serves as stops 1-4 on the Restoring Nature Audio Tour.
