Audio Description, Parking - Auto, Trailhead

Fire is a powerful and necessary part of life for the trees in this forest. Temperate forests around the world have evolved alongside fire and these trees are no different. Fire has impacted the ecosystem here for millennia. In reaching this trailhead you may have already noticed the signs of previous fires. As you hike, see if you can identify the trees described on the panel and their adaptations to wildfires.

Before you go, know that:
  • The path climbs several hundred feet and crosses a small stream.
  • Bears, mountain lions, and other dangerous wildlife live here.
  • Make noise to alert bears to your presence and never hike alone.
  • Feeding wildlife is prohibited by law.
  • It is your responsibility to know and respect park regulations.
  • Snow, water, and other hazards may exist.
