A float trip down the Snake River is one of the most immersive ways to experience Grand Teton National Park. Leave your car here while you explore during your float. Vehicles with boat trailers should use the marked spots near the take-out.
From 1892 to 1911, Bill Menor was the only homesteader to call Moose, Wyoming home. He operated a ferry, ran a general store, and made a life for himself in the valley. With few safe river crossings available until Menor’s arrival, his ferry operation opened up the western side of the river for settlement. This would ultimately lead to conversations about the protection of Jackson Hole and the creation of Grand Teton National Park.
Today, you will find the Park’s Headquarters (closed to the public), the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center, the still-standing Moose Post Office, and Moose Landing—your Snake River access point.
While you wait for your float trip to start or after your rafting adventure, Moose Landing takes you on a journey of boating history on the Snake River. Use the designated parking spots for float trip participants and boat trailers.
