At Porcupine Wash, visitors can see smoke trees, desert willows, lavender bushes, and the desert life attracted to them. Not far along the route, a side trail leads to Ruby Lee Mill's ruin, established in 1935. Near the end of the wash, an unmaintained trail leads to the summit of Monument Mountain. Monument Mountain is the highest peak in the Hexie Mountains at 4,834 feet.
