Most enslaved people at Belle Grove Plantation lived in dwellings in the field across from the 1918 Barn. Archaeologists surveyed and excavated the site from 2015 through 2019. Their goal was to learn about enslaved life at the plantation. Unfortunately, no photographs, maps, or accurate drawings exist of the enslaved quarter.

The 19th Corps Trail passes along the site of Belle Grove's Enslaved Quarter. A wayside exhibit describes the site. It shows a digital illustration that reconstructs the site as it may have been in the early 1800s.
