Quincy, MA
The post holes for the drying yard date to Abigail Adams’s time (1788-1818). In a world before dryers, clothes would be pinned on a line to dry outside. The points on the posts are to keep birds away.

The greenhouse behind the drying yard is still in use. It dates to Brooks Adams (1886-1927).
