Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

Learn about the geology of Prince William Forest Park! As you hike the Quantico Cascades trail, think about what this landscape would have looked like millions of years ago. Though it seems hard to imagine today, hundreds of millions of years ago lava flowed across the land that would become Prince William Forest Park. Colliding continents reformed the rock underneath today's forest into a metamorphic bedrock that can be seen exposed along the creeks that run through the park.
