Quick Facts
Location:
Fort Christiansvaern
As you walk up the stairs and go through the short hallway, you arrive at a junction whose corridor is one of pain and suffering. Turning left, these detention cells held prisoners from every walk of life from 1739 to 1952. Imagine being in these cells on a hot and humid day in June. No air conditioning, little to no light and not even room to stand. A miserable and cruel punishment, even for those who broke the law.
