Drive 4.7 miles and turn northeast (right) on an unpaved road signed “WE Soda.” Continue 3.5 miles to the grave, which is within a small, fenced plot on the right. Significance:
Daniel Lantz died on July 12, 1850, from “bloody flux” (dysentery) while traveling to the California gold fields. His burial place near Blacks Fork River is marked and publicly accessible.

Daniel Lantz, a prosperous wagon-builder and family man from Centerville, Indiana, died from the “bloody flux”—likely dysentery—while traveling to the California gold fields in 1850. His companions buried him near Blacks Fork River on July 12, 1850, leaving an inscribed headstone to mark the site. The grave is on Bureau of Land Management property about 3.5 miles northeast of present Granger, WY.
