Damascus River Access

This is public river access for the Upper Delaware River located near River Mile 298.5 in Damascus, Pennsylvania and across the river from Cocheton, New York, on the south side of the Cochecton-Damascus Bridge. This access is owned by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PA FBC).

Access Use: 

This is access can be used for launching canoes, kayaks, and other non-motorized boats. A paved boat ramp is available to use.

A seasonal portable toilet is available at this access from Memorial Day to Labor Day. 
Please keep pets on a leash.

Parking: 

Parking is available. There is a large, dirt parking lot able to accommodate approximately 50 regular-sized vehicles. There is one accessibility-designated parking spot.

River Rules: 

  • Pack It In, Pack It Out: There are no trash cans or garbage receptacles available. Please practice “Leave No Trace” principles and do not litter or leave any trash behind.  

  • No Glass Bottles: Glass bottle use is prohibited on the river. Broken glass is dangerous for both visitors and wildlife. 

  • Wear Your Lifejacket: It can save your life! Life jackets are required to be within reach when on the water and are required to be worn by children 12 years and younger. Life jackets are required to be worn when the river level is 6+ feet, or between November 1 – April 30.  

  • Do not Trespass on Private Property: Many properties around the river are privately owned. Please respect the local community and do not trespass on private lands. 

  • If fishing, you must have a license: Fishing is permitted at all public accesses. Anglers 16+ years of age must have a valid New York State or Pennsylvania fishing license.
