Cross Street Intersection

A larger live oak tree draped in Spanish moss with grassy are beneath and white canvas tent behind.
Trees and grass area make up the intersection today where Frederica's bustling center once was.

This intersection at Broad Street and Cross was the center of town. Consider the noises, sights, and smells that once filled this crossroads.

In keeping with the Trustees’ plan to aide those in distress, Oglethorpe welcomed settlers from several nations to Georgia. Austrian Lutherans from Salzburg built a village two miles from Frederica, as well the town of Ebenezer farther north. Highland Scots settled Darien on the Altamaha River. Even French Huguenots were not unknown among Frederica’s citizens.
