The Bond Family built this house in 1951 for ranch employee Sam Hill, his wife Bertilla, and their two children after Sam complained about the building of the red cabin for the Hoolihans. A generator provided power to all the houses, but the story goes that Ruby Hoolihan would shut it off at 9 PM to the displeasure of Bertilla. Later the cabin occasionally served as a bunkhouse and office for cowboys working the ranch. Each cowboy would set out in the mornings with a string of five to seven horses to complete their daily tasks before sundown.
