Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

Corn was an important staple crop for people and animals. The Corn or Square Crib was used to store corn to feed the livestock or to grind into cornmeal. The notched log construction of the central room shows this is the earliest section, while the two wings were added later. Look closely and you can see Roman numerals carved into the timbers, allowing the building to be taken apart and easily reassembled.
