Corinth Tour #1, Stop #4 - Rose Cottage
In 1862 this site was home to the Rose Cottage, the house that General Albert Sidney Johnston, Confederate commander in the West, made his headquarters after his Tennessee-Kentucky line collapsed. It was here that the plans for attacking Union army at Pittsburg Landing were drawn up and put into motion.
Rose Cottage was constructed shortly before the war began when its owners, William and Florida Inge, moved to Corinth in 1858. They called it home until 1875 when they moved into a larger house.
