The Tishomingo Hotel, established in 1859, stood at a prominent place in the town of Corinth. Located at the crossroads of the Mobile and Ohio and the Memphis and Charleston railroads, the hotel saw steady use from citizens before the war and soldiers after the war broke out.

Following the battle of Shiloh, the Tishomingo was used as a Confederate hospital tending to the wounded of that bloody engagement.
