The Concord Point Lighthouse, located in Havre de Grace, Maryland, sits adjacent to the mouth of the Susquehanna River where it flows into the Chesapeake Bay. Constructed in 1827, Concord Point Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse in Maryland and was an aid for navigation for 148 years.
War of 1812 veteran John O'Neill received a presidential appointment as first keeper of Concord Point Lighthouse due to his bravery during the British raid of Havre de Grace in 1813. He served there from 1827 until his death in 1838.
Decommissioned in 1975, the lighthouse now serves as a beacon for tourism and history in the region. The site itself offers a spectacular view of the mouth of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay. The lighthouse park also sits within a designated historic district and a river promenade, allowing visitors to explore other nearby historic sites and points of interest.
