Enjoy sweeping views of the Smokies, weather permitting, and get your park questions answered while perusing a small bookstore within the Clingmans Dome Visitor Contact Station.

The structure was originally a comfort station constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps before it was renovated and converted into a visitor center. It is also the highest-elevation visitor center in the eastern United States.

A set of vault toilets are available on the west end of the parking area. Clingmans Dome Road and the visitor contact station are closed throughout the winter season.

  • Short walk from Clingmans Dome parking area.
  • Clingmans Dome parking area is at the end of Clingmans Dome Road off of Newfound Gap Road (US 441).
