Stop in this shaded drainage, stand under an oak tree, and enjoy the views of the mountains. Listen for the Mexican jays and feel the cooler temperatures on this north-facing slope. Examine the vegetation on the hillsides and you'll see a mixture of desert plants, like sotol and cactus, and trees like oaks, junipers, and Piñon pines.

The Chisos Basin Road is not recommended for trailers longer than 20 feet and RVs over 24 feet due to the sharp curves and steep grades.
