The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC) is a 510-acre preserved located in Queen Anne’s County, MD that promotes stewardship and sustainability through environmental education and habitat restoration. The preserve is surrounded by Prospect Bay and within driving distance of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Visitors to the center can enjoy birdwatching, hiking, programs, canoeing and other special events hosted by CBEC.

The center was first established in 1981 by the Wildfowl Trust of North America Inc. with the purchase of a 315-acre farm. This initial preserve was named the Horsehead Wetlands Center and opened to the public in 1985. The preserve was then expanded in 1998 with the purchase of an additional 195 acres of land, and the center’s name was changed in 2003 to its current name.
