Respect Wildlife

While following the trail through the park you may have seen some of the many squirrels who call Chamizal National Memorial home darting towards their underground burrows. In the trees, birds sing songs to each other. Pollinators move from flower to flower gathering nectar and pollen. If you are lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of an occasional fox. Admid the surrounding urban landscape, the green space of the park provides important shelter for wildlife.

While many centuries separate your pet from their wild ancestors, to the animals who call Chamizal National Memorial home, it can be hard to tell the difference. To them, your canine might be a fox or even a wolf! And that spells danger!

As a visitor to the park, you and your pet can help us to fulfill our mission to protect wildlife just by giving them space.

Trail Note: From this point in the trail you can follow the path to the right, continuing on the inner loop and past the Cultural Center entrance. Following the trail to the left will result in a slightly longer distance. Both options will end at the final stop on the tour, where we will discover the final BARK Ranger promise.
