Always Wear a Leash
When it comes to experiencing parks with pets, together is always the best place to be. Which is why the second BARK Ranger promise is so important.
With rolling, grassy open spaces, Chamizal National Memorial might seem like the perfect place to let your pet off leash to run or play fetch. Besides, you know your dog will always come right back when called. Right?
Take a closer look at the area around you. You may notice the busy city streets or the nearby highway, with cars zooming past. You might see squirrels burrowing in holes dug in the ground. You might even notice other people and pets sharing the park with you. Pets can react unpredicably in new and unfamiliar environments. There are so many new sights and smells to chase after and discover. Wearing a leash is the best way to keep your pet safe while they visit the park.
Wearing a leash isn't just a safety practice. It's also the law. Pets visiting parks must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length.
