The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) played an integral role in building the Acadia National Park that we know today, through extensive trail construction and restoration projects. A plaque dedicated to their hard work can be found under the flagpole at the Acadia National Park Headquarters building. The inscription reads as follows:

CIVILIAN CONSERVATION CORPS
This plaque was dedicated by Chapter III
Alumni by former members of the Civilian
Conservation Corps in memory of
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
and the members, who
served at this post and other C.C.C. camps
in Maine and throughout
the United States
between the years of 1933 to 1942
Dedicated September 12, 1992
