Fantastic birding, abundant aquatic wildlife, and miles of hiking paths make this a great place for nature-lovers. Watch for alligators sunning themselves along the banks. A wooden boardwalk extends into the marsh so people can get a closer look at its wildlife.
Tyrrell Park
Cattail Marsh is located inside of Tyrrell Park, managed by the city of Beaumont. Restrooms and picnic facilities are available throughout the park; however, there are no restrooms at Cattail Marsh.
Getting Here
From Interstate 10 in Beaumont, exit at Walden Road and go east, then go straight onto Tyrrell Park Road. The entrance to Tyrrell Park is on Babe Zaharias Drive. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Cattail Marsh as the road loops past the golf course and stables.
Accessibility
The paths around Cattail Marsh are wide, flat, and consist of hard-packed soil and short grasses. The wooden boardwalk is wheelchair-accessible. Use the elevator to reach the top of the observation deck and information center.
