The Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw shows changing exhibits about the area’s cultural and natural history. The building was original constructed after Andrew Carnegie provided a $15,000 grant in 1909 for the construction of a public library. The building is a two-story red-brick structure with red Jacobsville foundation. The museum was founded in 2006 when the public library moved to its new location. The upper story houses the museum’s exhibits while the downstairs space has been renovated for public events.
The Keweenaw Heritage Sites are official partners of Keweenaw National Historical Park, but are privately owned. Each site interprets and preserves an important aspect of the area's copper mining history and provides a unique visitor experience. Please contact individual sites for more information.
