Burial of Mni Akuwin 1866

On March 8, 1866, Spotted Tail, the head chief of the Brule Lakota, brought the remains of his daughter, Mni Akuwin.When she became sick with tuberculosis, she expressed her desire to be buried at Fort Laramie to buried near her extended grandfather. Here body was moved in 1876 to the Black Hills but was returned to Fort Laramie in 2005 with a special celebration.
