The southwest quadrant of the Bunker Hill grounds. Following the fall of the redoubt, British Marines and soldiers occupied this hill and the nearby and higher Bunker Hill for the next nine months as a defensive position. The British abandoned the high ground at Charlestown by March of 1776, when the British evacuated Boston.
