At the Ranger Station, we are at the transition zone between old-growth ponderosa pine forest and montane grasslands. This is an outstanding area to watch for a variety of birds. Watch for these species:
  • Winter: Downy woodpecker
  • Spring: Yellow rumped warbler
  • Summer: Mountain bluebird
  • Fall: Williams sapsucker
