The lovely quilt block seen on the north side of the Stewart County Pubilc Library is known as Chariots Wheel or Ben-Hur's Chariot's Wheel.
Brigadier General Lew Wallace was a division commander during the 1862 battle. His division was located not too far from the public library in the area where much of the February 15th fighting occurred. Wallace's Division was instrumental in halting the escape of Confederates from the area.
